Operation Rescue Snapping Turtle
A couple weeks ago Jewel and I were out driving in the country, as we do often, and happened upon this lil fella'. We knew that we had to rescue it.

Farmer's Almanac
Will someone please reveal to me the truth about Farmer's Almanacs? For the past few months I have been randomly checking the Farmer's Almanac website to see weather predictions for Greg and I's up and coming shin-dig. Unfortunately, you can only preview up to 2 months out, making me quite anxious. Well, here we are, less than 2 months shy of our wedding day. Today I was FINALLY able to see the weather prediction for July 31st 2010. Go ahead now, look below at the fortune tellers predictions for the "Heartland" region of our beloved U.S of A. . .
JUNE 2010: temperature 72.5° (0.5° below avg.); precipitation 4.5" (avg.); Jun 1-5: Scattered t-storms, warm; Jun 6-12: Sunny, cool; Jun 13-17: T-storms, then sunny, seasonable; Jun 18-22: Scattered t-storms, warm; Jun 23-30: Scattered t-storms, warm and humid.
JULY 2010: temperature 77° (1° below avg.); precipitation 4.5" (0.5" above avg.); Jul 1-2: Sunny, warm; Jul 3-10: Scattered t-storms, hot; Jul 11-13: T-storms, cool; Jul 14-17: Sunny, hot; Jul 18-25: Scattered t-storms, cool; Jul 26-29: Sunny, hot; Jul 30-31: T-storms.
SERIOUSLY!? C'mon, now! For goodness sakes! I do not want it to rain. My one and only dream, ever, about my wedding day is to get married outside. Woof.

81 Days to Go
Life is kind of weird for me right now. Well, maybe not weird, but surreal. I finished student teaching/graduated college, I need to find a big kid job for the fall, and best of all, I am getting married. Yep, everything came at once for me. OK, "everything" is a bit of an exaggeration. I should say a few life changes are happening at one time. Although I would have never dreamt this up for me, life is perfectly in place. I would not change a thing.
About a year and a half ago, which was BG (meaning Before Greg), I was seeking post graduation opportunities. I wanted to "plunge through the fence" and be free to roam. I wanted to be a white water rafting guide with a friend in Wyoming, pick fruit on a farm in New Zealand (or herd sheep), work on a ranch in Colorado, do a leadership course in Australia. . . heck, I was scanning all my options. I wanted to do it all.
I am now 81 days out from my wedding day. Have I been able to partake in any of the options above? No, but I have still been able to "plunge through the fence," (this is a line from East of Eden, one of my favorite books) it just looks far different than I could have imagined. I never left the country, never flipped a raft on the river, & never picked fruit in New Zealand; but I have found Gregory, who has given me an amazing sense of adventure right here in Kansas City. Call me a cheese ball, I already know I am, but it's the honest to goodness truth. I never want to think being playful and adventurous has to take place outside of Kansas City. Becca, my friend & boss, said she is going to hold me accountable to two things: The first I'm not going to tell you & the second is to make sure adventure always has a place in my marriage.
I can guarantee Gregory and I will make sure to travel and play outside of the Kansas City limits, but I also want to create play right where I am. I believe we will.
love. Jewel
